Recapitulating
In our upcoming discussion of the Moon, we will see that at several points, we have come across her characteristics before. For those who like to review these points a list of those pages is presented here. The Glossary, too, includes references to some pages where the Moon is mentioned.
Also, we still have to deal with the last of those three questions we asked before (14.2 ), which has the Moon as its central subject. (The first two questions have already been discussed in 18, 19, 21.)
In the texts below, we will find out whether these different faces of the Moon can be brought together, as a functional whole, in one summarizing picture.
Our methodology so far
In our inquiry into the significance and validity of astrology, we have let ourselves be guided by the factual constellations around Earth as well as by the projection procedures that lay at the basis of the horoscope. During this analysis, analogical thinking turned out to be essential for our understanding of astrology (12). Following that line of thought, all familiar characteristics of astrology actually fell into place. Ergo: Following that line of thought, our search did not get stuck; on the contrary, we were able to place all astrology’s traditionally assigned values into an integral framework.
For our exploration of the Moon, we will now continue along the same path (18.1).
Reference points
In our analysis so far, the first reference points for the Moon have already emerged. In those contexts, she often turned out to occupy a key position. Continuing our exploration according to the methodology we have been using, we will relate the Moon’s functions to her most notable characteristic, which is her satellite position in relation to Earth. This position will serve as our criterium for the upcoming analysis.
